BMWPEDALS Dead Pedal Install

Hi,

Received my set of pedals and there was no problem in fitting the gas & brake, however, when I laid the dead pedal over the plastic housing, I noticed the OEM housing surface is slightly concaved, which means the metal dead pedal will not sit flat and there will be voids in the middle.

I haven't installed this piece since it only uses double-sided tapes, I fear ithat every time I press against it and release, there will be this "tacky" sound.

Has anyone installed a set in the Z4 and what's your situation?

I did not know there was a rest pad cover that would fit? I guess I'm still right.

I searched high and low and finally went with the OEM M peddle set, gas peddle, clutch and brake, no foot rest pad cover, that is still black.

I guess if you want to keep your's, you will have to mash it down to be concave too. So I would make sure you really like it before doing that or the MFG might not take it back.

Use a couple beads of silicon caulk. It'll fill the gaps, cushion the pressure and peel off when you get tired of the bling.

I am not going the bend the piece to fit because the curvature is not even and I cannot control the bend, I will just return the dead pedal piece. Only reason I went with the BMWPEDALS was because of the completeness of having the dead pedal, otherwise I would have gone with the OEM set. Overall, I am happy with the outcome...

It is indeed. But what can I say, this is my daughter's and as much as I wanted to order the M coupe at the time, she couldn't drive a stick and I didn't want to order the stick and then figure out whether she could drive one after all.

I have to agree with Daven...clear silicone will do the trick and the job will look "complete". You don't have to put on a ton of it...just a little where the gap is present then lean something with just a little weight against it overnight and you're good to go. Since silicone does not expand as it dries, it will be completely unnoticeable.

Hmm. I installed these on my M and there is no visible gap. I do get an occasional light pop from the dead pedal when the tape "adjusts" itself. They look and feel great!
