Z3 Roadster (E36/7) Z3 6-speedManual Transmission?

Hey people,
Fairly new to this forum and new to Z3 ownership. There is quite a bit to love about my 2000 2.3 Z3. One thing I would like to change is from a 5-speed to 6-speed manual transmission. Does anyone manufacture an aftermarket product? If so, anyone have any experience with them? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I did the swap in the fall. You can read about it here. It is not cheap and the cost savings in fuel will never be recouped but I would do it again in a heart beat.

Wow! What an incredibly thorough post. I don't know if I have access to all of the shops and manufacturing equipment. I was hoping for a kit I could work on the weekends. Looks like I have my work cut out for me! Thanks for the info.

I was in the process of making a "kit" that was going to be all inclusive and my car was the first guinea pig. I had a line and a great price on the correct euro 6 speed transmission but shortly after I finished my car, the price of the transmission went up $700. This put the kit over the $3200 mark and I was not going to get any buyers at that price point. If the transmissions stayed at my original cost, I would have been able to offer everything but the driveshaft shortening for $2500. I had LOTS of interest at that price but only a few at the higher price and I needed at least 10 orders to get the bulk discounts needed to make it happen.
