Delivery of '13 X3 35i M-Sport/Yakima box

Picked up the new ride on Tuesday...drove the 200 miles home from Portland to Bend, OR...gave her a bath and started farkling with all the stuff I had ordered online over the 8 week wait. Weathertec rubber floor mats and cargo mat, roof rails and my existing Yakima rooftop box. Box fits perfectly...unlike my mini where it dwarfed the car. Next is to remove the bumper cover and bumper for the Curt trailer hitch for my Thule 4 bike holder. Loving everything about this car so far.

Which box do you have? I'm thinking of investing in one as an alternative to upsizing. I figure I only need extra cargo space every so often.

Did you buy roof rails after purchase? Mine didnt come with them and we want to add but BMW quoted $1200! Looking for a better price on rails. Any ideas?

Ordered the car with rails...I do a ton of outdoor recreating from skiing to stand up paddle boarding and have had rails and cross bars of varying types on all of my vehicles. Check with a specialty rack show like Rack and Roll if there is one in your area...may be cheaper than the dealer.

kennyw, forgot to ask this earlier. what cross bars did you use? BMW's? I'm trying to read up and it seems that Yakima doesn't seem to make anything that will fit the BMW rails.

I did buy the BMW crossbars. Some BMW dealership in Minnesota sells them for just over $200. Look online. I had purchased the similar ones on my '11 mini countryman and they are very high quality and minimal noise. Very psyched to have the insulated closing shade for the sunroof on the X3 as it blocks out most of the wind noise that the bars/box on top of the car cause. I will remove the box in the summertime.

Congratulations! The X3 looks beautiful all tricked out in white. If we had a roof box like that on our new X3, wifey would destroy the box, X3 roof, and garage within 1 week.
