I noticed that there is a cold climate ccv (crankcase ventilation/oil separator) for the 2.8. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?
My car was originally purchased in in Dallas and now I live in Colorado. Should I be concerned or will it not matter? BK85

BMW simply says if you have the cold-weather failure problem, use the cold-weather version of the CCV. The cold-weather version adds insulating foam to the exposed hoses.
The problem was discovered in North America, particularly the upper mid-west United States and Canada. So if your climate is like that, you need the cold-weather kit. If it's more like Germany, you're probably fine without it. However, there is no harm in using the cold-weather kit in warm climates. Last edited by Blacklane; 02-28-2013 at 12:44 PM. |

That makes sense. Thanks.
