I was thinking the same thing! I was also eyeballing the suspension kit. Does only a Dinan dealer have to install their product or can any other shop?

Any Dinan dealer, and many BMW dealers are Dinan too. I'm hoping the Calgary AB Canada dealer (340 miles) can do a US spec car but if not will scoot down to Dinan near San Jose (1,000 mi) and have them load the software and get before and after dyno runs to see what I'm paying for.

Next Tuesday for the speedy electrons The snow finally melted in MT so I'm headed back up with the M after Dinan works their magic on the truck.

The speedy Dinan electrons are now loaded in the X5M. There is definitely more torque and I suppose HP but it is going to take some seriously straight roads to find out. The top speed limiter was raised to 168MPH in the process so I'll need to better understand the limitations of the DWS tires on the car now or consider breaking my back and putting on the heavy stock wheels/Bridgestone Duelers that are in storage. Hopefully the launch control feature was retained

I suspect the truck will now easily reach 168 mph even though the Cd must be >.4 Dinan suggests the 610HP and 575 ft-lbs of torque are conservative. I had an opportunity to hear their exhaust on an X5M but $3K for 8HP seems a bit beyond reason - as if a 600 HP AWD SUV is reasonable

I'm super jealous! But enjoy! Btw, I thought the HP/TQ gains were higher according to the website? Unless those numbers were dyno'd at the rear wheels....

How was the sound?
I'm thinking about getting since I don't think I'll spend 6.5k for Akra (so 3k for Dinan seems very reasonably priced. hahaha).
But never heard it on X5M in person.

It sounded great! Not quite as harsh/tinny has as the Akra on an F10 M5 but I 've never heard an Akra on an X5M. Sounds deeper and absolutely no droning at highway speeds. I don't know why the stock X5M's don't sound like much - you'd think they would be like a stock M5

I always wondered the same thing. If they are both running S63, why wouldn't they sound the same? Are the cats in the M5 that much more different than the X5M?

Are the dinan exhaust an axle back or a full setup? I believe the reason why the Akra are so expensive is because they are full titanium system with x-pipe. Add another $2k for catless downpipes and you're looking at $8k+ for just parts.
