Replacing rearview mirror with auto-dimming/compass one
Does anyone know if a 2011 3 series comes pre-wired to swap the 'base' rearview mirror with the upgraded mirror that is auto-dimming and has a compass and homelink? Or does it require re-wiring? I'm wondering if it's an easy job to pop out the mirror and install the new one.
Here is the mirror: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BMW-E38-E39-E...b8cf2a&vxp=mtr Thanks_a_ |

I was going to do the same upgrade on my 128 and discovered that it is NOT prewired.
I'm willing to bet that your car isn't either. However, it's theoretically possible to wire it in. Most of the wires come straight off the overhead console. The tricky part is running the wires that come off the fuse box and the CAS module in the trunk. |

Thanks! I was hoping it would just be take one mirror off and plug the other in and it would get power and everything would work. Or at least be able to easily wire the new mirror in to the existing wiring. Running wires is not something I want to do...
