I've owned a couple diff't VWs with the 2.0T and they never, never gave me issues.
Me too, at least until the day after the warranty expired.

Anyone Joe Schmo can change the oil, but that won't save your ass when you have vibration in tires that balancing just won't fix. Nor will it help you out when your water pump leaves you stranded.

I guess the thing to take away from this, is that if you plan on keeping your car for a long time, get into bed with a local reliable BMW Indy, or start learning all you can about your car and grabbing a Bentley E90 book.

I've got it pretty good in my situation, in that my father is a HELL of a DIY'er when it comes to not just cars, but anything really. On top of being an electrician as well! With my continuing knowledge of cars over the years and his incredible talent, there's nothing that can't be fixed. I can't name one reasonable thing. But for anyone else that doesn't have those luxuries or the tools readily available, it's time to make friends with car guys!
Well said!

I think you are going to regret not considering the 328 xdrive w/ nav and sport. For an extra 1500 or so you can get the package on a pre owned w/ 10,000 or less. You need to look outside your area.

Actually....I got some Blizzaks yesterday (Thanks ryebread39 for the suggestion) on the OEM Wheels I have on the car and threw away the conti pro contact RFT..ITS BEEN AWESOME!!! We have 7 inches of snow and I have zero problems in the snow. I think end of April I will shop around for new 18-19 inch wheels. The NAV part..ehhhh....I am kinda like still was on the fence about it. I can live without it.

I just joined bimmerfest right now and saw your post. I too have gone through what you are going through, I had a '09 A4 with the same issues and traded it in only 7 months ownership. Bad power steering pump, bushings, control arms, rebuilt engine due to oil consumption... I now own a 10' 328i. Don't regret it. Make the move, avoid the headache. Good luck!
