Indie shop in NOVA

Looking for positive experiences with independent shops in Northern VA (Fairfax and/or Prince William Counties). I've been going to German Auto Group off of Backlick road, but may want to try somewhere else. Any positive experiences to report?

thanks

I haven't been there in a while (been doing all my own work lately), but I've been very happy with London Auto Services in Falls Church. The guys there really seem to know what they're doing, and the process were always reasonable, for BMW work anyway.

Talk with Gary Martin of Martin Motorsports in Alexandria as he has been a long long local indy with lots of happy clients including my herd of BMWs over the years. He has also hosted a few BMW club DIY.

Ended up going to J+F Motors in Arlington---http://jfmotors.procarcarezone.com/topshop/web/web_template/temp5/default.asp?id=107958

They cleaned my plugged a/c drains and adjusted the parking brake cable correctly...unfortunately, it was $240! Not sure if this is average cost...but they billed for 2hrs labor total ($120/hr).

RRT?

I was going to go with Alexandria Bavarian Service--but they actually REFUSED my car via the phone! Said it was "too long in the tooth." Their loss, I guess....

RRT only, keep in mind they are a racing team as well so they are busy a lot of the times. Need to make reservations most of the time

+ 1 on RRT. There's also Funktion Auto in Dulles and PTuning in Manassas. If I need work that does not require special BMW tools, I go to A-1 Car Care in Chantilly, good honest folks.

Yeah whenever I call ABS, they never come off as friendly. I asked if they did alignments, his response "Not really". So is that a yes or no? LOL I feel like that company is on its way out

There's a shop in manasdas off euclid that did my tranny mecatronic sleeve change and pan change for $160. I found them by driving around and saw and saw a bunch of olderand newer bmw outside they were working on. They actually specialize in bmw. There called euclid auto service.. I think 160 was an aawesome price

Alexandria Bavarian Service . I've taken my car there several times. Great service. Yes the owner is a die hard mechanic who loves working on bimmers.

I take delivery of a new-to-me 2005 330Ci next week and will be taking it to Alexandria Bavarian Service. I've not been there before, but I spoke with them on the phone about pre-purchase inspections and generally what to look for. They were helpful, but I'll be sure to post a more complete report after the first go around.

I had my last bimmer serviced there and they did an excellent job. Saved me some money too. My car actually drove better too. I was at 100k mile mark and Randall got her purring again.

My wife and I use Benz Elite Automotive in Alexandria. She has a Benz ML-500 and I have the 750Li. It's a family run business and they seem to be really honest. On several occasions, they've told us we didn't need service we thought we needed based on an idiot light or the dealership's recommendation. They have also done minor repairs for free! I know, unheard of, right?

The indie shop that I go to in my area has done stuff for me for free too. I think its good service. I don't understand why some shops will try to cheat you when knowing that cars will break down. If you give good service, people will come back. If you do shotty work, they won't.

I've also had a really good experience with Benz Elite in Alexandria. I plan to continue to take my 135 there.

You should try B&T motorsports, they do everything from basic servicing to high performance upgrades and they don't try to take advantage of the customer. They are located in Springfield.

6 posts from this member in the last few days, all mentioning this shop. I hope you're an owner, employee, or at least well-compensated for your time!

K&G on Oakville street in Alexandria is an excellent shop and very reasonably priced. Kostas the owner is specialized in BMWs and Mercedes (used to be a BMW mechanic). It's a relatively new outfit and they know how to take care of customers (and their cars).
