02 745li

Hi New here just looking at picking up a 02 745li seems to run fine no issues looks real clean got 200,000 km on it just looking if anything that I should be really looking out for,or should I look for something else? I am a tech but this car seems to be overloaded with possible Issues?
Thanks and great site!

I consider every opinion thanks for your input, just asking why ? Parts are cheap and seem to be available . But it would bum me out if it died on the side of the road.

The modded wheel would put me off as its likely to have been given a hard time by the previous owner.

I wouldn't mind the age or mileage myself but keep a few grand spare incase it needs any unexpected work doing.

Considering how cheap i assume it is I would happily buy it and save some money for repairs just in case.

Just checking with the Third-party warranty company, and calling a few shops to see what their like to deal with . I can almost. Get a Bumper-to-bumper warranty for a year. But just seeing if I'm just wasting my money

Well it's Factory paint , only tiny little scratchs all Proximity sensors front and rear and sensors in the car all operating normally, Only a headlight flickering so changing the ballast and H ID they're doing that , and hood cable broken ,no oil leaks and quiet motor, so I think it's as clean as you can get for the year?? It's better than my 07 ford edge, but I drive it 365 days a year, don't think the LI seen winter

I would not do it. Look at a 750 way less problems. a 745 is not the car to buy over 90k miles. But hey to each own. Best of luck

Trust me im the same way and i spent 4k in my first year of ownership except mine is close to that one in mileage now and i was at 120k miles when i grabbed it. Maintenance even diy adds up on this car. Chances are that facelift model was taken better care of esp at that low milage

They are known to have many issues, search this section of the forum for weep hole, parking brake, transmission and you will understand why they drop in value faster than lexus ls and mercedes s class of comparable years. I got a friend with a 06 750li with about 100k give or take a few thousand miles and has been trying to sell it for months now with no luck. He offered me the car for 10k up front and to work something out for the rest between 3-5k more and i swiftly declined. The newer ones aren't immune to the problems but less likely but i think as of lately as the avg mileage on them has been getting higher that alot of the all too familiar problems are coming out. I would probably say a lower mileage facelift is a better deal than a higher mileage PFL. You may end up paying about the same for the pfl within a couple years than buying the facelift and having a few trouble free years. just some things to think about..Good luck with whatever you end up doing

Checked local bmw dealer parts are very good price wise , water pump, pipe and hoses , etc , not worried for motor or trans, it's no real biggie to repair. Thanks it put my mind at ease, knowing more about their Internals
