E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

New dash

Just recently purchased a 1985 325e and the dash is severely cracked. O was wondering if anyone makes replacement dashes or would a dash cap be the best way to go?

you will be highly disappointed with a dash cap. i have seen some real horror story ones, make it look worse than it did cracked.

getting hard to find uncracked dash's these days, your best option would be to get a dash mat. other wise, source an uncracked one, usually about $300ish (yes pricey) and fit that. but if you are not DIY competent then dont swap this as it can be quite a complicated job.

I have recently seen a fibreglass copy of the original dash...

For the high-rollers, BMW sells the E30 dash, made with a new material, for $600 USD.

does BMW sell them branded with BMW though?

my one was supplied by the dealership when my 316i was new, but its not actually labeled with the BMW roundel. and im not the only one i have talked to about them. there is a current thread on another forum i frequent discussing whether they can be infact genuine or not, if they are supplied by the dealer but not BMW

Yep, new material, can be left baking under the sun with no issues.

When I bought it the supply was short, and they wanted close to $1000 for one. BMW has since ramped up the supply and the prices have dropped.

If it's only $600 I would jump on it before they decided to slap a mobile tradition surcharge on it.
