Just bought my first BMW yesterday, 01 M5 manual with 60k miles. I let my brother do a drive with me trusting that he knew how to drive a manual since he owns a manual Hyundai Veloster. Well as it turns out he doesnt. I thought he was driving in too low of a gear but didnt say anything cuz the rpms werent too high. Turns out his foot was riding on the clutch pedal and by the time I could smell the clutch burning, it was too late. I need to replace it but Im limited on funds given that I bought my M5 cash. A lot of people have mentioned the Luk clutch kit as an affordable option. Are there better options out there that I can buy for under $750? Is the Luk clutch an upgrade over oem? I can get one on ebay for $250, does anyone know where I could buy one for less? Im not opposed to spending more for a clutch if it means I can get better performance while maintaining driveability so long as its under $750.
