Connect Phone to play music?
Hello,
I just recently bought a 2003 BMW 325 i and I really want to hook up my phone to play music from it. No offense, but I hate listening to the radio. How would I accomplish this? I already have an AUX cord (from my Beats' headphones) that I can use. If it's hard to do / a lot of work to do, would a dealership do this for me and what would be the cost? Thanks, |

the part is 40ish dollars
a good DIY for it, so it will cost no labor, and takes about 30 minutes: http://www.my330i.com/mod26.php |

I'd expect at least $150 in dealer labor. Probably takes just over an hour. Doubt you'd mess anything up as it's pretty simple. If you do decide to do it yourself, heat up the interior so the plastic will be less apt to crack/break as you remove things (i.e. do it on a warm afternoon or after a drive with the heat way up for the last few minutes).
Edit: The DIY posted above references installing a jack with drilling etc. I just ran the cable out from under the center console trim on the drivers side and plugged my aux cord into it there. It's not as neat, but easier and who's really going to see it there in the crack between your seat and the console. Last edited by ahull; 03-12-2013 at 05:37 AM. |

If you have all Apple products(phone, pod, etc.) then you want the DICE iPod/Satelite connector. Stealership will screw you on installation, but the DIY will be no problem if you know how to work pliers and a screwdriver. You'll be able to control tracks from the steering wheel and information on the track will be shown on the radio display.(this is with the business cd setup in mine)
