Hello -
I am looking to upgrade my stock brakes on my 08 335i convertible. Any suggestions/websites that is recommended? This is mainly just for everyday driving. Stock brakes wear too fast, i hate 'em |

Whoa - you got 57k on your brake shoes? Rears usually wear out first and much earlier on these cars owing to the e-diff. Or do you have a LSD [recommended]?

Wow - that is insane good mileage on rears, you cannot expect anything better and I have tried other pads in the past and always went back to the BMW ones - the feel and work so much better than the alternatives!

If you want improved pad performance you can check out many high performance pads out there. I changed mine to Cool Carbons based on previous evaluation done by the SF Chapter of BMWCCA and the fact that the 2007-8 model pads use the old pad formuation which has a lot of dust. I think newer 2009 pads and on use the formulation which doesn't dust and still offers good performance. Cool Carbons are superior in everyway except cold brake initial bite than the stock pads. There are other high performance pads out there too but if you want to change calipers and brake pads I believe Izamboni is getting a complete system installed. You might PM Kevin and ask him about his set up. For what it is worth I changed my pads around 50K miles to the Cool Carbons and the brake pads were maybe 40% worn so I am not hard on brakes at all and the Cool Carbons still dust some but nothing like the stock pad...

Any thought to replacing the pads with the newer 2009+ edition pads? Similar performance with minimal dusting.

Wanna bet? I'm at 91,200 and still on my original fronts and rears. Getting awfully close to needing them done, but just barely not there yet.

September 2009 onwards for the E90s. I am guessing the same for the other cars, but that is just a guess. The new pads are night-and-day different from the previous ones. My ex-E93 would have black wheels after 40 miles of driving. The d's wheels are not objectionable after 500 miles (and then it is time to wash the car, so I don't know how long I could go before the wheels would get similarly dirty).
