Since you keep losing coolant, you need to figure out where the leak originates. Could be any number of parts - usual culprits are expansion tank, water pump and/or radiator.
How old is your car, what model is it, how many miles does it have and what have you replaced (or not done) cooling system wise? If you give out some details, lots of smart folks (not me) on this board can help you. |

Auto or man trans?
Fan working? Overheating when rolling or stopped? How low was fluid? How much did it take? Any trace of coolant in the oil? Clues Watson, we need clues. |

I have noooo idea abt leakage or coolant in the oil. But what I do know is that my dad noticed black stuff around front of hood inside. And said ti get that checked out. There is 120,000 miles on the car. I know I Lacked bigggg time on check up and etc but never had problems so didn't think I had to

Pull the oil dipstick - if the oil looks milky, you blew a headgasket. If not, thank your lucky stars and get busy doing some maintenance. Given your miles and problems, you need to haul the car to a good garage so they can go over your car thoroughly to see what needs to be done. At any rate, there are many possible overheating causes and you need to get it figured out before you do real damage.
