Should I add M-Sport and Xenon?
I placed an order last Monday for an X3 2.8 with Sport Activity Package, Cold, Premium, and Technology.
The production hasn't started on my order and now I am thinking of changing it. Dealer says this should be possible. I'm thinking of adding M-Sport, mainly because I don't like all the black trim everywhere. Obviously, the wheels are nicer too. I'm also thinking of adding Xenon, purely for aesthetic reasons. I've never driven a car with xenon's, so I initially decided they weren't worth the extra $900. Seems like a lot of people on the forum go with M-Sport and Xenon. If you have them, can you comment on if you are happy you got them? If you don't have these on your car, do you have any regrets? I want to decide today whether to add one or both. Thanks! |

I am surprise at how many X3 28i do not have Xenon. In my opinion, a car in this price range should come with Xenon, but thats a debate for another day. The LED angel eyes are almost like a trade mark for BMW now a day, in my opinion, a BMW is simple not complete without the angel eyes. Xenon lights are also 3 threes as bright as halogen and last much longer. If you sell your car in 3 or 4 years, you get half of that cost back, so its a win win situation as far as I am concerned.

Xenon's are a must. More then just cosmetic/aesthetic.
M-Sport package, if your color is lighter, the rivets in the wheel wells are quite evident. But if you go carbon black, you won't see them. In the end I wasn't enamored enough to pay the money for cosmetic...

If you ever drive at night, and can get xenon's, you absolutely must.

Hands down get the xenons. They look great and the extra visibility makes them worth it. You won't want to go back to regular headlights once you've had xenons.

If both fit into your budget then get both. I love the Xenons. I also love the Sports Transmission and Sports Seats. I don't care about the cosmetic parts of the M-Sport package.

I have the 35i with msports. The Xenons truly are a safer way to travel at night and even during the day, you are more visible in fog or low light. the Msports steering wheel and sports seats are worth the money alone...I am 6'3" and the thigh support makes a huge difference.

Okay, hags99, since you're asking....
. If you can swing it, go for the M Sport and the DHP. I posted pics of mine, today, but cosmetics ( which are so nice) are only part of the story. . The performance handling and the M Steering Wheel give you such a versatile driving experience and feel, it's like getting four vehicles in one. …and no compromises. I eliminated the heads-up display package, opting to spend on the M Sport package instead. . and a big BTW, My window sticker lists Xenon Headlights as Standard Equipment not a $900 add-on...? . Enjoy your ride, regardless. These X3s all are all amazing handlers.... ![]() . dgx3

Xenon are standard on the 35i not the 28i, but they are worth $900 in my opinion. I do a fair amount of driving at night especially in the winter since it gets dark by 5 PM around here and I'd never buy a car without them. Visibility is significantly better with the Xenons.

Thanks all! I went ahead and added both last night. I feel bad because we missed window to change original order. Dealer agreed to make change to one of their stock orders so I can have my changes. I'm thankful for that. Production already started. Expect delivery by end of march. Can't wait to see and drive it!

Sounds like you placed the order, but for others, I find the msport ride to be a lot rougher. I presume this to be due to the lower profile tires as I was told the suspensions are the same (not considering DHP). I do like that msport adds the rear wheel drive bias, however. I'd recommend driving both and taking very thorough test drives. I also like the darker interior and seats of msport. And the steering wheel for msport is preferable for me.

I'm not sure it would matter having DHP. With MSport and no DHP, you don't have the sport suspension (but regular suspension). That is probably the same (or similar) to the Comfort setting with DHP/DDC. My guess is that I would find your vehicle rides about the same as mine on Comfort setting. Like I said, it really comes down to what you are used to and how sensitive you are to road irregularities, etc.
