2005 545i Increase Emissions
I've had the increase emission displayed on my dashboard for the past couple of months and can't seem to get it off. I've gone to a number of mechanics and no one seems to know how to reset this. Does anyone know why this would come up and if so how can I reset it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!

If you went to a mechanic and they couldn't pull the codes and reset them, run away from said mechanic(s)

The two times I got increased emissions ,,, one was a vacume hose that runs under the manifold. The second time it turned out to b the MAF sensor.. I dont think if u reset it ,will b the end of it.. like schpenxel said stay away from those guys... U need to get cdes and find out wat they are.. Maybe someone can chime in and recomend some indy mechanic in your area

Are you leaking Oil?
Are you leaking oil? I had such a message one time on my 04' 545i sport and my indy mechanic did a pressure test with steam or vapor and it was evident that I was losing pressure due to my valve seals being worn....Long story short I had him do a complete front end reseal and all is fine now.

I have had the same issue. My "increased emissions" code said that the coolant wasn't reaching proper temperature. So I replaced the thermostat. Reset the error code. Then same code came back in a few days. After finding another thread on here on how to test the thermostat terminals, I found out the thermostat wasn't faulty. So now i think it may be water pump instead. I'll post again when i resolve this issue. Maybe this will put u in the right direction for trouble shooting your issue.

Can you use INPA to see what temperature readings it is seeing? I have seen a faulty wire between the computer and thermostat before that may do this

I've had this problem intermittently for well over a year. Had it checked by an independent and by the dealer on two separate occasions when it was lit but neither could find a cause and just reset the light. Sometimes I get it if I fill the tank with other than Top Tier gas. I put a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank and make sure I only use Top Tier gas and within a couple of tanks the Service Engine Soon light with the "Increased Emissions" warning goes out. That's not to say that there isn't really an underlying cause in your case.
There area number of other intermittent problems I have had with this car. The latest was the SOS Malfunction warning. That went away over night. Same with the 'mute' function stuck in 'mute' mode. I think there was one other but I don't recall what it was. It seems the car has the ability to "heal itself" if left to go to sleep.

2005 BMW 545i
I recently had my car inspected and it failed because of Evaporative System and Secondary Air Injection "NOT READY". Has anyone else have this happen and if so what was the cause and how did you fix the problem.
I am not getting indicators on the dashboard the only symptom I have is a hesitation on acceleration. Any help would be appreciated. |

Headlights won't go off
Yesterday, I parked my 2005 545i BMW during the day and my main headlights came on and wouldn't go off anyone else had this problem? I don't have the headlights in the automatic position can't understand why this would happen.
Also, heard a knocking noise under the hood. Recently changed my CCV and cleaned the Air Mass Sensor, Not sure if I need to changed the O2 sensor as well. Any ideas??? |
