E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Difficulty finding a new E30?
Hey all, my old E30 got rear-ended about 2 months ago. Got a Merc. 420SEL to roll around in for the mean time, but I'm trying to grab another E30. Thing is, there seem to be little to none on the market around where I live (Tucson/Phoenix). Anyone know what's going on? Seen a LOT of beat up verts, but no 325i coupes anywhere. Really miss the old BMW! If anyone has heard of one for sale, let me know. Not afraid to buy one and drive it home cross country if its a good deal!

they are slimming down in numbers due to accidents, rusting out, poor maintenance ect. try and find a decent rx7 that nobody wants to take an arm and a leg for a decent non rusted body with working engine.

Seems like SoCal is the place to look..
I just sold a rust-free '87 325iS, last night... Here in the salt/rust belt, that is a miracle... Got a good price, because everything else for sale in town has the tin worm....

Just takes a lot of time, Craigslist is not always the best place to look. I'm sure in your area 100sq miles there is some dude horrding a few too many and is willing to sell at the right price.

There's a 325is coupe on Vancouver Island. Practically new condition and I don't think it would cost an insane amount to ship it. It's for $7k Canadian if I remember right

A buddy of mine had $5K to spend and couldn't find a good car. He searched for three months and couldn't find anything.
Some people are asking $3K+ for clapped out beaters... |

When I was shopping for this one in 2011... it took 6 months... My budget was up to $4500, and it was tough... Eventually, paid $4000 for this one, and you imagine what I've put into it, to sell it for more than what I paid....

I bought my '91 325iA for $2K back in '08. I could probably get north of $4K for her now, with an additional 40K on the clock. |

But, it beats the heck out of spending that much money and then selling for a $1000 loss... so, I'm not really complaining.. What makes me happy, is the car is better now than when I got it..... Rather than contributing to the demise of the E30, I extended the life of this one... ;-)

I bought my '89 325i last November for $1200 from a seller I found on KSL.com/auto. There are always a few e30s for sale for very reasonable prices on KSL.com. I'm in Utah, and KSL is region specific. But if you're willing to drive across the country, Utah shouldn't be too bad.
