E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135. |

Very cool. You're going to make all of us here in the US jealous with those pics. We don't get the M135i. Next year, we're due to get the coupe version (M235i), but it's a long wait!
I've been reading all the reviews of the M135i I can find, but can you write some more about your impressions? Thanks for posting the pic of the backseat- was curious how the legroom is compared to the last gen 1 series. This looks quite decent. |

Thanks. @bmw325 - yes, who knows why BMW America chose not to import this model - you are a huge market (and our speed limits are even lower). OTOH, you get the X-drive AWD range of models, which we don't get. And we don't get the 2 door M135, as in Europe. I was after the new 125i hatch, and test drove that. But a 135 test drive was also available, as was a build slot. TBH, the 125i's engine felt just as responsive to me at normal urban speeds - but without the aural drama of the 135. Things I really like are the decent low-speed ride with the M-adaptive suspension, and the firm and alive steering feel in sport mode. Only slight disappointment is that BMW did not extend the digital speed readout when altering the cruise control set speed, into a full-time digital speedo.
Interesting how in the US your options are bundled into options packs, whereas in Oz they are individually selectable (separate to the style packs). Which didn't help to curb me.... Cheers. |

Was just I Australia a month ago actually. Your car prices are roughly double what we pay from what I could tell so you guys deserve to get stuff we don't like individual options rather than packages. The reason they don't import the m135 is that BMW USA thinks Americans hate premium hatchbacks based on their experience in the 90s with the 318ti. I think that's an outdated notion (as Audi has proved with the a3) but they still refuse to sell them here.
