most threads end up with the same response lol. okay to get to exact questions. i know the engine will fit but what do i do with the wireharness and ecu. is everything a plug and play or am i looking at a lot of splicing. car is a 1986 325e and a 1998 323is. am i able to leave the 325 differential?..does it make more sense. ask my understanding the ratio is more for the 1986.

as stated above. search. you are asking questions that have been answered literally thousands of times. the swap has been covered in detail on over a dozen different websites. if you can't find the information, you are not competent enough to do the swap.

alrightttt i could agree with that. i was just looking for the easy way out. from my research the e36 diff doesn't fit and the e30 diff is a better one regardless. is this true?

the diff vary model to model and also tranny. easiest thing to do one that will be research to see what the diff ratio is between the 2 and then determine what you want to do with the car. if you want to track it and drive around town, a higher ration will be the better bet. if your doing more highway and want to better mpgs, you want a lower ratio
also on the harness, from what ive read is there is some splicing. but i didnt get too far in since i couldnt afford it.
