Mein Auto: 2005 530i
2005 530i stalls

When driving up the hill it keeps loosing the speed and the rpm doesnt increase even given more gas. Have to shift to lower gears to keep the rpm about 2800 for it to keep moving. If I dont shift the gears, transmission disengages and the car stalls.

When accelerating from zero, the engine gets very rough. It seems to drive better when the engine is cold. Mileage dropped by about 5 mpg.

When it is in Neutral, it revs up OK.

Dealer gave an estimation of about $5K repairs for replacing 4 oxygen sensors, catalytic converter and MAF sensor.

Got the 2 intake Oxygen sensors replaced by an independent mechanic. It did not make any difference.

Error codes after the replacement of oxygen sensors:

28A2:
28A2 Air path
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Short circuit or signal interruption

273D:
273D Cat-converter bank 2
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Signal or value below threshold

2738:
2738 Cat-converter bank 1
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Short circuit or signal interruption

CDA8:
CDA8 Telegram monitoring (status instrument combination, 1B4)
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Timeout

Replaced the MAF sensor myself. No difference. Mileage dropped further.

Error codes after the MAF replacement.

28A2:

Error will cause a warning light

Test conditions have been completed
Short circuit or signal interruption

5F77:

Appreciate any suggestions.

Check the oil separator - the hose connections to it frequently crack or become brittle over time.
Check the PCV valve.
Check for bad coils/spark plugs

Even if you replace everything I listed here it should be less than $1k at an indy shop, the dealer is trying to rape you. I replaced the oil separator (cracked) on my old 530 for $160 parts and labor.
When my oil separator cracked I had 4 pages of error codes, including misfires in 5 cyls, increased emissions, secondary air pump, O2 sensors all showed as bad, and the Cats were showing as bad. Once I replaced the oil separator and reset the error messages, they never returned, car ran perfectly smooth.
