I tried it out and it has an error in it... After talking to a CA, the Xenon lights are ala carte, but the the config still has them with required with premium package...
I sent a note to them to make sure the clarify this with their folks to get it corrected.

Is that a change for 2014? Carsdirect.com has lightening package for 2013 that requires premium package.

Are Xenons really ala carte now? I would love this to be true.

Per my preliminary order, it is a stand alone option for 2014 see attached copy

Oh, I see. They're not ala carte; the lighting package just doesn't require the premium. Thanks!

Well... you can't get Xenon lights without the adaptive light control, so they are essentially ala carte...

Good news is that they don't have any other "stuff".

I am looking for a low option X1 for my daughter, but want the safety aspect of better lighting for night driving

Yeah, the package has changed a bit. It used to also include ambience lighting and auto high beams. I guess those are included now.

I ordered mine this past weekend based on the packages and options listed on the BMW web site but those are for the 2013 MY. It looks like the high beam assist option is a stand alone option for MY 2014 but it is part of the lighting package for 2013. I ordered the lighting package but at this point I assume this I wont get the high beam assist option because it is now a stand alone option. I hope that isn't the case because I specifically asked my CA if I would be getting a 2013 or a 2014 and he said that 2014s weren't in production yet and that even if they were, there would be no change to the options. He was off today so I haven't gotten a chance to speak to him yet.
