I think I can ship. Just not sure what the charges will be since its oil. If anyone can confirm that ground shipping will be regular charges then I have no problem shipping these.

How many quart you usually put in? I used to go full 6 but the engine pop "Too much oil" check message. 5 is a bit low.

Six was always good for me. Ironically the give nine bottles in the kit originally because they know the 6 series naturally burns oil

I had my oil on my 650i changed yesterday at my indie. I watched and it took 8.6 quarts of oil. That's why you get 9 bottles. If you were only using 6 quarts you were not completely draining the oil, changing the filter, or putting enough oil in the engine. In the last 15k miles I never burned or lost 1 drop of oil. BTW he charged me $8 per quart (BMW oil), $12 for the filter and $40 labor.

$40 for labor for an indie is a bit pricey, maybe they are the famous one. I normally bring my oil and filter myself to any place that I can see them change the oil myself. Probably about $25-$40. ($40 is Jiffy Lube and $25 is a car wash place near my home).
Oh yeah, I think I remember it wrongly. Last time 2 bought 2 pack of Mobile 1 oil = 12 quarts. I use full 9 bottles. Sorry my mistake saying 6, I mean 9. The car show the code "Too much engine oil". Well so now I know it's 8.6 quart then. BTW, I never get oil level too low after I do the 7,000 miles oil change interval. Before when I listen to the BMW recommended, I used to top up oil every once in between the interval.

Both BMW of Dallas and Moritz BMW in Arlington, tx charge $110+ fees and Classic BMW in Plano, tx charges $140 out the door. So to me it doesn't make sence to change my oil myself.. I've tried - same money (roughly) and spilled some on the floor, messy

You said Jiffy lube is $40. ![]() My 13 year old SUV sure, but a 6 series BMW? You might want to Google some of the nightmare stories of them stripping filter threads etc.

The oil and filter alone cost $85 for a DIY change (9L of synthetic oil and a German filter). $40 at Jiffy Lube gives you 6L of a blended oil and a domestic filter.

So, you think $40 for labor for an oil change from a specialty shop that only works on BMWs is too much but $40 from Jiffy Lube is not. What the heck? Are you serious?

I think I need to put more effort in improve my english comprehension. I mean $40 for labor to oil change is pretty expensive since its an easy task. I prefer sped $40 for a trustable BMW specialist indy then stupid Jiff Lube. The last time I stopped by Jiffy Lube was with my friend and his Corolla. I never bring my car to place that I can't see work being done on it except... Dealers....

The dealership can screw thing up just as easily. Pinching a rubber seal ring for instance.. And they will never admit it. Who do you think works in the mechanic's bay? Same high school dropouts as jiffy lube.. Not "half-gods" (as like to think) service advisors with their fancy suits and huge chip on their shoulders..

Mobil1 0W-40 (European Formula) is an approved oil for BMW. This is available at Walmart for ~$7.00 per quart. This oil is factory fill at Porsche, and approved by MB, as well. Is anyone else running this oil?

Easy task or not, like you and I all businesses have employees to pay and bills to pay too. $40.00 for a 20-30 minute job for a shop with a lift, insurance, lights and air conditioning is not unreasonable. You may want to do it yourself, but with CA laws what are you going to do with the old oil? You can't just dump it. I don't want to throw money away but somethings are reasonable to pay for. For me Oil changes are one of them.

Thanks, Yorgi. BTW, this is my first BMW, and I've had it for ~1.5 years. I followed your oil change DIY, and it was really helpful....especially for resetting the computer.
