Don't you guys think the seat textures in that particular S-Class are kinda of weird looking? Reminds me of something out of the Alien series

In my opinion, the interior exudes traditional, 'old money-ish' luxury (as opposed to BMW's contemporary luxury). That said, and having noticed the analog clock, I'm wondering if it ever crossed MB's mind to offer as an option a high end timepiece to put in the center console, probably supplied by A Lange (because its German) or Patek, etc.

I like the look of the new S class, the interior looks (as gramps would say) real swanky. I'm betting anything those are the high end designo interior shots, still nice looking, will be curious to venture to a Mercedes dealer when they come out.

On to the 7 having a lot of plastic, I have the '13 740 with extended leather (maybe that's the key?) but I haven't seen or heard (going over bumps) anything plasticky. I rather enjoy my interior (love the gauges), and feel the 7 is superior in driving feel and comfort (after test driving both the 7 and S550). My age may be playing a role in that drive feel as well, but, IMHO, I'm still liking the 7 verse the Mercedes S series!

And, for what it is worth, there will always be something newer and fancier, gives us all something to aim at! V/r, Tim

Oh so painful but true. I can't wait for the S and when I'm in it I will dream of the all new F01 until the A8 is rebuilt

Not crazy about the exterior.....something doesnt work for me....doesnt breathe class? front end too short?. Interior does. As for timepieces Deutsch100 i do prefer A. Lange & Sohne to a casio. And Maybach's have some exceptional interiors...like beds...*****. And i agree with all the comments here....BMW needs to step up big with the next gen 7 series. Between the new S and now Audi s8 running 3.5 0-60's...where will BMW's market be for the 7 if they don't revamp it??

The dash is hideous! Like the old Buick's with bench seats in the front.

lol...here we go again.

check out the S550 interior lighting set to Vegas mode. I was looking at the list of fragrances that benz atomizer option produces, and one of them was entitled Night Club. Not sure I'd want my car smelling like any night club I've ever been to.

Re: Oh my: Mercedes releases first images of 2014 S Class

Read on Autoblog... MB is getting a "overwhelming demand" for C and S Class 2014 models. Increasing production.

Oh my: Mercedes releases first images of 2014 S Class

Drove the new S for half an hour or so and love it. The interior quality is a mile above the F02.
The interior ambient lights can be set to seven different colors and toned down for normal people.
Next years model is the one to get with HUD, magic sky panorama roof (electro-chromatic) and 9 speed tranny...

I think the interior looks pretty good. Saw my first 2014 S class on the road today. Man, I was surprised at how little I liked it. The back end slopped too much. Others on here have said they have seen the new S in person and were blown away, so to each his own I guess. However, it was at night and the car was black so sometimes dark cars at night are hard to see the true shapes.

The exterior of the 2014 is not that much different from the previous model other than obvious difference in the omission of the fender flares, but the new interior is simply gorgeous you have to see it in person forget pics. Don't get me wrong I loved my 7 but the S-Class is a great car. I will say this though, there is no substitute for BIMMERFEST! This is by far the best car enthusiast club out there IMO and I'm a member of club lexus, mbworld, and corvette forum.com

I can't believe you guys, I never hear a sound in my 7! you must have really sucky dealers. I love the fact that we are impressed when someone manages to make a digital display look almost like an analog display! I got an idea, lets use an analog display!!!
This has got to be the dumbest ideas, all tech no class! I hope BMW doesn't follow suit. a really good analog display looks classy.

The body doesn't look that much different on the link that you sent on the new 7 series, but the lights I believe they are trying to throw us off.

Can you tell more about the test drive? how smooth was the ride? Did it have the smell atomizer? What got boring about it? You mention lag..what model did you drive and what engine? Im assuming the TTV8? I cant belive they havent worked out the lag yet on the new Mercs.
I must say, Im very surprised that I dont see more on the road in Qatar. Usually Qataris want the next best thing.

Really haven't seen anywhere near as many of those around LA as I would have expected by now. So far my count is at 3. One was already filthy and looked like it had survived a brush fire somewhere. Interior is so baller that I can't get over it.

Sucks to hear about the acceleration issue - maybe it can be PedalBoxed. I was using mine in Sport+ in combination with the car in Sport+ on an empty highway today and it was uncanny. Would have given my pseudo-girlfriend a heart attack if she were there.
