You can do it man! I never worked on a car untill I got my BMW 4 years ago. Just make sure you bleed and bleed and bleed the air out and you will be fine!

I'm looking at the same kit and am about to pull the trigger but I am hesitant...hoping that I can do it myself. It's just a machine, right?

It's the ultimate driving machine, ahem. You can do it. If you get stuck just take lots of pictures of what you can't figure out and we'll help you get it done. I knew barely more than you when I started with mine. No worries, you got this.

Does the kit come with instructions or anything? If you plan to do more repairs yourself, some auto stores sell books to help guide people on repairs too. Just go for it

There are highly detailed guides (DIY's) out there for nearly any job to do with an E36.

http://www.bimmerdiy.com is a great resource.

ABS light??

I just bought a 93 325is which has a rear drivers side shock issue. I have yet to take it apart and check the issue. I am not getting the Popping sound or anything so im pretty sure its just a busted shock. Anyways, there is also an ABS light on the dash. The car stops great. Could this shock issue cause the ABS light come on?

Likely a separate issue. I'd lay money on it being an ABS sensor.

http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...ensors-t68402/

Here's how to test them.

The front window fogs with 30 seconds on a day with any humidity.

If one fuse blows you never know what else could go wrong b/c of the crazy wiring being different per vehicle.

Mein Auto: 95 525i
Just got a 98 328is (Carlos), about a month ago, mint shape with 160km. Sold our 95 525i (Carley) that we had for 7yrs was starting to need more body repairs than I wanted to get into...anyway I did my first oil change on the 328 today and the previous owner gave me all his past bills for work he had done and was changing oil every 5,000km city driving for less than I can buy oil & filter. I dumped the oil and went to remove the filter and she was stuck on there good, had to use a breaker bar and gently get it loose I was afraid it was going to break the housing it was that tight, the filter was clogged up worse than any I've seen,
gotta feeling that's why the changes were so cheap. Filled it back up started the car and rechecked the oil, filled it back up to the level and it would not start...I've done a cabillion oil changes and I'm not new to bmw, corvette etc and never had this happen...neighbor comes over and figures the oil reset is the prob. I figure what the heck, so I short out 7 to 19 and turn ignition to acc and no lights come on so I let it sit for 10sec or so and take off the jumper...car still won't start. Anyway after leaving it for a smoke and beer it fired rough but then smoothed out and is back to normal. I now have no service lights at all were as with the 525 when I reset I have all the bars back on the dash is that normal for a 328 or did I screw something.

For sale items go in the classified forum. Toward the bottom of the forum index.

1) Welcome to the fest!

2) You have nice hand(s)!

3) read the stickies at the top of the forum index (cooling system 101; oil guide for your E36; buying and E36, etc.)
