Alan so the 550 diffuser looks to be Jet Black is that how it comes? Our standard diffuser is a like a dark charcoal right?

Stock diffuser is some sort of dark charcoal color. The Bmw Performance one comes in Matte Black as is and doesn't require any painting unless you prefer it. On SG the black looks better to me.

Hmm I wonder how that would look on a jet black car.

hmm on a jet black car i like to have contrast so i would paint it back the same color the stock diffuser is now. If anything maybe a shade darker so it still stands out but without being too in your face. I wouldn't do jet black though. If anything slap it on as is to see how the matte black looks and worse case you pull it off to have it painted. The swap takes no more than 10mins tops. Super easy.

Damn man! That thing looks wicked!

Yeah, about the diffusers, I think the Jet Black drivers benefit the most from the OEM charcoal diffuser since it adds nice contrast which is usually missing from typical black cars who are forced to use black diffusers. I like the diffuser contrast as well so we JB's get the rare benefit of that.

Sounds great. Do you think it may be quieter than the BMW aftermarket exhaust? This sounds expensive (higher pitch on the revs). I like how I can also here the turbo boost. Me likey!

Hi Alan:

First, your car is absolutely gorgeous - well done & congrats! Many thanks for sharing all the insight and the details.

A few of questions:
Opti-Coat - Did you apply it on the windows as well? If so, Any visibility or other issues? The company does not recommend this. Was it difficult to apply on the car?
Cost - any chance of attaching approximate value of each item on the list of changes that you've made? Just trying to see which items I can afford.

As they say, the greatest compliment is imitation. I'd sure want my bimmer to look like yours.

Thanks!

I did not apply the opticoat on my windows but many people have and it is fine as long as you make sure you apply it evenly. It was very easy to apply on the car. There are several youtube videos showing you how to do it. Not much different from applying wax except you don't have to buff it off.

As for cost...hmm i don't even know where to begin lol. I will give you a ballpark price on some of the bigger items on the car.

Front lip - $1K
Wheels - $4-5K with tires
ACS Springs - $500
Supersprint Exhaust - $3K
Trunk lip - $200
Roof Spoiler - $150

Alan

Thanks! From the videos i've heard of the Bmw exhaust it does sound slightly louder than my Supersprint setup with midpipes. Not by much but mine seems a little more smooth where as the PE sounds more raw.

Hi Alan:

Thanks for the info. Did you do anything to protect the interior? Any recommendations to keep it protected & looking new from 2 messy kids of mine ?

Alan, do you have DHP? If so, how do the ACS springs work with DHP?

I do not have DHP but i do have DDC. Either way the ACS springs works with any suspension combination without affecting the functionality of them. The components for DDC or DHP is separate from the springs.
