paint warranty question ...

I've got a 2011 328i that has a paint flaw on the top of the car that's about the size of a silver dollar in diameter .. The surface of the car is perfectly smooth but looks like the paint underneath is starting to fade .. I believe this occured during the application of the Clearcoat. I took it to the dealer in Southbay CA, they took pics and sent it to coorporate and they said " it appears you left bird droppings on it for SOOOO long That the paint underneath has discolored. I've washed this car every week so this is IMPOSSIBLE.

I've already called Coorporate and they said they can Do nothing... Is this correct or do i have any other avenue's to persue... I'm very dissapointed in BMW that they will not honor an obvious paint flaw from the factory...

thanks..
Paul

You live on the coast and the coast is the home of the dreaded Western Herring Gull -- known for its extremely corrosive crap! You are lucky that there was only one spot IMHO.

My issue is that this 'FLAW' is a paint defect NOT a bird dropping as they claimed. Its garaged at work and at home . I was hoping there was something I could do to get them to fix it since its an obvious flaw and not due to any external circumstances

Best to get the paint analyzed and get a thickness test done for it. I'll be a body shop can do it for less than $100.

FWIW, I tried this approach with BMW on my 5 series wagon...Went to dealer, up to BMW customer service, BMW NA...in the end, I had to get it repainted and sold the car.
