///M performance power kit announced for 335i

I wonder if 535i will follow suit.

I think this move was inevitable since the power difference between *28i and *35i cars narrowed considerably after N20 was introduced. Here, BMW is basically giving you an option to 'upgrade' 335i to 340i for $1,100.

Is 20 hp increase even noticeable? Will you go for this kit if available for 535i?

I don't think there's ever been a performance power kit for the 5 series before, so we shouldn't expect them to start now.

Sounds awesome. The 20 HP increase is cool but the 32 lb/ft torque increase is even better. These N55's are such torque beasts, they already prove to be highly underrated in torque when stock already, and every little power upgrade yields such significant increases there you can really tell there's just so much "give" in that department.

I do like how they sweeten the deal with the new engine cover, rocker panel decals, etc. to make it a little further than the important power gains. The best part is the intake system, as I've been wanting to get more ENGINE noise from this car, as the I6 just makes the most awesome sound, preferably without making the exhaust all that much louder (but wouldn't mind it a little louder under WOT, though engine is more important and sounds better on this car IMO).

Though I'll probably pass for $1,100 + install (I'm assuming install won't be cheap at all). Just frivolous to me since this car is already overpowered in my congested city. Realistically I'd probably be happy with a good intake system for the reasons listed above which would cost a fraction of that.

You'd probably notice the remapped gears and maybe not see as much high end power loss if you're going 100+ beyond that you won't notice crap.

Maybe it's just my lack of imagination, but what exactly is an "engine cover"? Is that the plastic cover of the engine itself that reads "BMW turbo" or something different?

The hp/torque may actually be understated - http://www.bimmerfile.com/2013/03/27...nce-power-kit/

That makes sense as BMW already heavily understates the torque of the stock N55.

760: Yeah it's the plastic cover over the engine.
