Thumbs up Best place to order parts

I have noticed in my vast time of Z4 ownership (now approaching 72 hours!) that there are a lot of BMW Z4 parts vendors. But I have also noticed that prices vary wildly for the same parts--for example, I need to order a replacement rear console piece that one vendor advertises for around $300, and another has the same part for $1250. Both are supposedly authorized BMW parts sellers, both parts are supposedly OEM parts.

So, who in your vast experience has the most parts readily available, at reasonable costs and has the technical savvy to direct me to the right parts?

Thanks once again!

First, I think you must learn to use RealOEM.com for your car so you are familiar with the name and part number of what you want. I am not sure if online vendors are good at helping customers with phone questions, though I have gotten email responses to specific fitment questions quoting their site and product number.

For OEM parts I like BMW South Atlanta.
http://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com
Their online parts store replicates the RealOEM.com parts manual, their prices are far below dealers, their email notification system is good, but I have not had to actually ask questions or help of anybody. They are also good for the myriad OEM bolts and nuts and fasteners and little gaskets and washers.

For suspension, cooling system, shifters, etc, you can find parts bundles or kits even cheaper, from vendors like:

http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/
http://www.bimmerzone.com/
http://www.rogueengineering.com/
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/bmw-parts.aspx
http://www.ecstuning.com/

For accessories and interior parts, these vendors are good:

www.getbmwparts.com is the less expensive BMW dealer (Tisher BMW I think) I found when it comes to parts.
Best thing is to compare prices and shipping costs.

These places good for z3 parts to? I feel like it's almost impossible to find or get the right info on getting a parts. I ordered rsm from turnerautosports then get a notification that what I ordered wasn't in stock and would take a couple weeks. So I cancelled the order.

When dealing with a non BMW parts dealer for parts I usually call or email first and ask if the part(s) is in stock, less and less companies keep stock on their shelves, too much investment.

I like the prices at bimmerzone, but too often emails requesting info or prices go unanswered - when that happens I tend to go to PelicanParts.com. For z3 specific parts that I can't find on eBay or anywhere else, then I go to south Atlanta bmw.

Thanks for the mention, we are improving in that aspect as I type we just hired another customer service rep in response to the increased demand. Hope we can further assist you in your parts need.

I sent them an email regarding a part.. I received a response back that very same day with a response to my question. I went ahead and purchased the part.. I will order from them again for certain.

For non critical parts, check out Amazon. I just ordered a K&N cold air intake kit for my Z3 for >$40 less than the best price I found on the 'normal' BMW suppliers. Also, it came with free shipping.

I agree with becoming familiar with realoem and bmwofsouthatlanta. The idea is to train your self to get that part # first every time. Then you can look for the best deal (part+shipping). Ebay is also a good resource once you have a part #.

I'd love to see your 4 seat Z-4 roadster, can you post a picture?

Way better pricing than the dealers and shipping costs that are in line with actual shipping costs ( as opposed to inflating the bottom-line). Orders over $100 ship free last time I checked.

Prices will vary greatly depending on the vendor you are looking at, simply check multiple websites and compare prices and shipping cost.
Most of the vendors mentioned above make sense but as I said shop around to make sure you get the best price.
No vendor has a monopoly on low prices.

Ditto.

You can ad BMAautoparts to the list. I've been using them for years. One advantage is that they're local to me, which saves on shipping.
