V1 is great and it tells you the direction you are being hit from. However the 9500 series gives you GPS enabled features that make false alarms very rare and the range is one of if not the best in the industry. I've had 4 passports, currently have the 9500ci installed, and have been happy with all of them.

I have both and, hands down, the V-1 is best.

I think the 9500 is the best especially if you drive within the same city often. Reducing false alarms means more to me than knowing the direction of where I'm being hit by radar. I've never had a V1 but I hear that they are great. I've owned a 8500 since 2001 and I just got a 9500 a year ago. The 8500 is still going strong but in my sisters car now.

I've been observing Radar Roy for years, and he's got some great reviews.
Escort seems to be his brand of choice although I don't think he would ever admit it outright.

I have Beltronics STi Magnum. It safed me several times, works good, it safed me from laser as well couple time, one time I remember very good, it picked up over hill, so the by the time I was on top of the hill I had at speed limit. The cop was mad, because he kept shooting at me for another 30 sec, and my radar is going nuts, but I didn't move my hand to silence it. It could be a cause to pull me over.

I would go with the V1, it is a much more reliable radar detector and most people just hardware this into their cars.

I recently upgraded to the Beltronics Pro 500, the unit has GPS and allows you to lockout false alarms. good reviews from radar roy also

Range, accuracy and the fact it actually shows which direction the signal is coming from. An update and overall refresh of the unit itself would be nice, though.

Just yesterday got saved by my STi Magnum, on way home from work, I was coming from small hill as got Ka band, I braked but right after laser, and he was keep going with his laser until I passed him, so i guess he actually got me my speed on Ka band but he was not sure if its me so he used laser to get my speed BUT I was at 55 mph, HA ha ha I won. Thanks to Beltronics.

yes, those guys are going with new tactics in NVA, shooting Ka-band then if they see some speed on their display they will use laser the get a speed and make sure you are not be able walk away in the court, since laser is very accurately. I guess to hold laser for long time is not fun. Lazy, but it's good "lazy" for us.

Yep, and that's a dumb move on their part (for those with detectors). If you're running radar ahead, I'm picking you up hundreds of feet away. I'm even tapping the brakes so those around me can get the message and it usually works. They like to just sit in the car and wait for a high reading to show up.

F1- initial thoughts of the escort? Did you mount on the windshield or dash?
