Smg Question

I have a 545i sport wit a smg been trying 2 do launch control and no luck, is it not like the M ?

Correct, the SMG in the 545 is similar to the M5's, but not exactly the same. The M5's can handle more power as well. The SMG module is different (545 = part # 23607582247 the M5 = part # 21 21 2 229 955) - as a guess I'd say the module allows for launch control.

I don't think so, the SMG pump is also different (as I recall) and you would need programming.

The 545 with SMG and the M5 both have SMG 3 trannies. However, while it is the same basic tranny, the M5 one is beefier and the module and SMG pump are different. I have a few friends with 545's with SMG (even saw one 525 with an SMG for sale, can;t imagine why someone ordered a 525 with an SMG) and they all thought about the same upgrades as Gixxer, turned out to be too difficult or too expensive.
The SMG was a no cost option on the 545, so it would have been a no brainer if you ordered it new. It was a $1000 option on the 525/530 at the time.

Then press the Sport button.
