The last 3 months, I have been having difficulty with my car starting. I have gotten a new battery and a new starter. Initially after I got the new starter, I had no problems. Now, it takes a while for my car to start. It's been pretty cold, so when I leave the car sitting in the garage overnight, it takes about 6-10 key turns, before it actually turns over. It runs fine and if I run into a store, it cranks right up. However, when I go into work, and come back out after 10 hours, its difficult to start again. Any ideas?

Have you tried changing the oil?
Do you have rough idling?

I had a similar problem a couple months ago with my E39 which i believe have the same engine as yours (Almost the same, its a 2.5L M54) and it was due to the CCV valve. I had rough idle and the exact same issue as your, car would need 2 - 3 attempts before it started after i left the car overnight or for a long period but if it was still warm it would start up immediately.

I get my oil changes every 5,000 miles faithfully. I have another 1,000 miles until the next one is due.

Without a rough idle I am stumped. Have you checked the voltage regulator and/or alternator?
I had issues with my 2005 530, but they all involved VERY rough idle. It was actually the fact that the oil separator had cracked in half.
