E39 (1997 - 2003)

Fuel door latch

Hi I was just wondering if there would be any reasons as to why the fuel door latch on my 2000 528i is always stuck In the "open" position? Thx

Do you mean that the rod does not extend to engage the door? Or do you mean that the door does not close?

When the car is locked the fuel door latch should lock automatically, otherwise it is always open.

Dunno the answer to the question, but, for reference, typing /fuel door F3 in the best links netted me the following links (among others) which might have more information for the OP:

You may have it on that one. It's been in the garage unlocked the entire time I've had it so I just assumed the actuator should always be locked.

Well it got towed to an Indy import specialist this morning and I have yet to hear back from the mech. I hope to hear some good news from him soon! I will deff be posting whatever comes out of it.
