Another successful climate control unit repair!

My wife emailed me to let me know that the climate control panel flat out died on her 323is this morning. Not wanting to spend the buttload of money for another one (or trying to chase down a used one) I did a little bit of searching both here and on the Pelican Parts tech article section. I came across two links that basically say the same thing (but have some different pictures) so, while jumping back and forth between the two of them, I fixed it with a $1.99 capacitor.

http://www.macadamizer.com/bmwfix.html

Needless to say, I scored some "good husband" points this evening. I also feel a lot more relaxed now!

Anyway, I'm mainly posting this as another searchable data point in case others have this problem. There's no need to go straight to replacing the unit without trying this first!

BB.

The chick doing the repair from the pelicanparts.com article is making me pitch a tent. Somehow chicks who work on cars makes me get a little... excited!

I've done the macadamizer fix on 3/4 E36s I've owned. Strange that it's such a consistent problem.
