Maserati handbrake

Anyone know how to temporary tighten a hand brake? It doesn't seem to be working.

Brake

Hahahha I would but I use the bmw forum for bmw stuff and was already on. I've worked on cars but not the hand brake, plus most new maserati owners know nothing about cars lol

Price makes no difference they're all great cars they're good in different ways, handbrake problem probably wouldn't have happened on BMW

Just out of curiosity, what year and model in the car? Mechanical handbrakes all operate pretty much the same. You tighten the shoes toward the drum/disc, or tighten the cable to the actuator, or both. Are there no adjustment nuts on the cables to the handbrake lever?

Honestly its sad, people don't know how to take care of those cars, the early cars have a bad rap but the later ones are great if maintained they're absolute rocket ships. I'm not trying to come off as pretentious but my family collects cars even have a couple lambos. Even though those are worth more I still love cars like the maserati and older beamers . Only true car people know they have something special.

Lift the handle as if applying the brake. Look at the base/pivot point of the handle and see if there isn't a nut on each side facing forward (not the one that the handle pivots on). If there are two nuts/threaded pins, try tightening them. Those should be the cable tensioners.

Do you have drums on the back? If so you should loosen the nuts on the hand brake and then adjust the adjuster inside the hub (otherwise you just stretch the cable.) You might also want to check your shoes/pads as that might be why your handbrake is not great.
