E82 / E87 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by a naturaly aspirated inline 6 in the 128 or the turbo twin power inline 6 rocket sled 135.

BMW Performance Power Kit for 135i

Hey all,

I am getting my 2012 135i soon, and was interested in getting the BMW performance power kit for it, which as I understand is simply a software installation that the dealership does.

I understand this does not void the warranty on this car, however, I was curious if I would have to pay to remove the software at the end of the lease?

Does anyone have the kit, and if so what do you think?

I purchased the software upgrade for my 2011 135i convertible when it first came out last year. It was $600.00 installed for a 20 hp boast and the maintenance of the BMW warranty was a good deal. I am not sure it is a good deal at the price they are charging now. It appears the software upgrade for the 2012 135i is $935 plus installation.

All that being said, you really do feel the extra horsepower.

power kits

After researching the BMW performance kit (20HP) for app $1300 here in Monterey Ca, I went with the Dinan stage one software upgrade (60HP and 70 ft pounds of torque for $1600. The added torque is VERY noticable! Also get more MPG around town (22.9) and 26.3 on freeway. Some BMW dealers install DINAN as it does not limit warrenty.
