E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Trunk clearance for 645ci vert?

Hi guys,
Just bought a 645ci vert and waiting for it to arrive off the truck

In the meantime, I'm designing a sound system for it but I don't know how tall I can make my subwoofer box.

Can someone tell me the height/clearance of the area between the trunk floor and the bottom of the "shelf" that holds the convertible top?

correction

don't make it more than 10 " high, the area right behind the seats is a bit smaller.
I assume you don't want to fold up the shelf, but if you do, the box can not be deeper than 18" (measurement from the back of the seat reaching into the trunk)

Also consider the fact that you will need room to pull the lever down when you want to raise or lower the convertible compartment in the trunk. Unless u plan to keep it open permenantly

Once you hear the system you probably won't even need a sub. only problem I see is getting to your fuses and battery if you needed to. Make sure you make it easy to take out in case of problems. Remember you have a few electronics modules on the inside of your trunk lid and a few to each side of the trunk sides. Rattling from the sub might affect these modules so be careful.
I just want you to cover your bases before you jump in, don't mean to discourage.

if you stay below 18" you can still operate the handle

Nitrogen is right. Wait until you hear the system. For me it is all I need

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll be sure to keep them in mind!

I'll be doing an 8" Sundown sa8 w/ around 800w rms () going to it in a .7ft^3 ported box, tuned to 35hz.
The box will be around 10"h x 12"d x 25"w.

I think this will give me the most bump in the smallest package.
I like to feel my music like I'm in the front row of a concert

The only other thing I will upgrade are the tweeters, so I can get silky smooth highs.

I'll post pics of the install when the time comes!
