Heard from Rolf again and he's got Peter coming to meet me at the airport on Nov 12th. So Rolf is back up and communicating again and is having Peter take care of the pick ups for now.

I wonder where Rolf drives people to? Hotel? BMW Welt?

I am arriving at the airport just before 2 p.m. and rush to the factory for a tour. The alternative is to go to the tour first thing Monday morning.

The answer is wherever you want to go!

Rolf has frequently picked me up, taken me to my hotel, and then the next morning come back and picked me up from the hotel and taken me to the BMW Welt. This was especially fun on the Opening Day of the Welt, when we were the only people there (more or less) at 7 a.m. before the festivities began.

We had Peter (but we met Rolf at the airport too) and he took us to our hotel, then came back the next morning and took us to the Welt. He gave us pointers on BMW and Munich on each trip. He also sat at our hotel and highlighted some 'things to do' while in Munich. Gave us directions to get our toll stickers for the rest of our journey. I'd use either Peer or Rolf for our next ED.

Some people may use Rolf because they are scared being in a new country. However, I suspect many use him because he seems like a fine fellow with an interest in visiting Bimmerfest.

If one is looking for the cheapest way, public transportation is cheaper if there is only one or two people traveling. I found that the most memorable trips was when I had contact with others, either friends of friends or occasionally nice locals. This might be hard if one is in a country where one doesn't usually talk with strangers or smile at strangers.

One nice local that I remember was when (not in Germany) I could not find the correct bus stop and others did not help. There was one teenage boy who not only helped but showed me exactly where the bus stop was instead of pointing. It was 1.5 blocks away and he was in a leg cast!

We just got back from doing an ED and met with ROLF. He was waiting for us in the exact spot that he described. What an amazing guy, very polite, knowledgable and pleasant to be around.
He did not have any other pick ups after us and offered to take us sight seeing, which was extremely nice of him. He also spent a nice amount of time with us at the hotel telling us how to get around and what is worth seeing. This was extremely helpful. Thank you very much Rolf. We look forward to meeting you again.

Rolf Update

I communicated with Rolf last week, he seemed fine as much as anyone can tell from an email.

He's picking me up at the airport in late July. He said he was going on vacation in Span in August so he will not be able to take me back to the airport.

He arranged for my return to the airport via Peter.

I hope this is helpful.....

Rolf has been hooked up with Peter for my August ED. He generally responds to my emails within a few hours.
