The Little Things

The 46 million ways to press the moonroof button.

Push up to tilt.
Back to move sun shade, back past the resistance point to move it all the way back. Double click past the resistance point to move it all the way back and open moon roof.

Push past resistance again once moonroof is open to open it further.

One little blip open when it's closed for a different tilt.

And then all those combos the other way for closing adjustments.

I could care less about Twitter and Facebook, but what about displaying eMail? Does that work? I find myself checking my iPhone constantly for eMail updates as I am going through my drive between clients and appointment!

Nope. Not with an iPhone but works for BlackBerry.

Wow, that makes absolutely no sense!! I was under the impression that everything Bluetooth and phone related on the X1 was predicated on the iPhone. They even only make adapters for the iPhone for goodness sakes. They don't support an iPhone but the do support an antiquated product like a blackberry? SMH.....

Not sure this is true. I had a 2011 x5 with apps (same setup on the x1 I believe) and I was able to get texts and emails on the I drive screen with my iPhone. I won't have my x1 until next week but I will confirm as soon as I do.

You iPhone owners are so funny. Like it's the first phone with BT, and the first smart phone.

Guess what: wrong on all counts. The first iPhone wasn't until 2007, but BT dates back to 1994 (IEEE std in 2002). The first BMW 3-series with BT were E46 models.

I'm fairly certain that the email issue has always been Apple's problem not BMW. I read on anther forum that email is working now with the latest IOS, but I haven't gotten around to testing it. I get too many emails to make this feature I need. I do utilize the text message display from time to time.

You missed the point. We're not debating the history of Bluetooth, we're debating that if Perlova's comment is correct. Why BMW's apps support the Blackberry and not their "chosen" smartphone which seems to be the iPhone!

Office is not part of BMW apps. I simply have iDrive, no BMW apps or snap-in.

Ok, I'm not sure I understand the problem, but I do see emails and such from the iDrive system I have. I can't confirm that this works on the iPhone 5 (don't see why not)... but you do need office installed. You need will need to also make sure your iPhone is at least OS 6.

1. Turn on "Office" under Telephone > Bluetooth settings in iDrive.
2. Turn on "messages" under Telephone > Bluetooth settings in iDrive.
3. In the iPhone go to Settings > Messages and make sure notifications are on, change the number of notifications from what it's at now, choose 'alert' style, choose 'show on screen'.
Make sure the phone is locked or that you are not in the email app during testing. It will only display new messages received during the session. It will not display previous unread mail
4. In the iPhone go to Settings > Bluetooth and click on the BMW link and make sure "show on screen" is selected.

The manual states that reading emails is dependent on your smartphone having the capability to transmit it to the car. If it doesn't you can't read it in your car screen.

I have the same moonroof on my X3. The best moonroof I ever had! Can't imagine driving without it.

Remember - the mirror switch needs to be in the DRIVERS position for the passenger side mirror to point down when you shift into reverse !

Smile Cruise control

I like how the cruise control adjusts 1 mph with light touch and 5 mph firm touch, faster or slower (forward or aft).

Cool, I guess us 35i owners don't have that nice "electronic" feature.
