Do the ventilated seats do the job?

I've suffered many years with leather in Florida so the ventilated seats are intriguing. Unfortunately, they require $2900 worth of packages against which I can get the comfort seats a-la cart at $1300. For those who have them in warm climates, does the ventilation really make a $1600 difference?

Can't say that I know, but I'm interested in hearing from someone who has them.

My last car (an Infiniti) and the current BMW both have the ventilated seats, and at least in my climate, have worked fine. If you get into the vehicle a little damp, and are in it long enough, you'll dry out. On a long trip, you do not come out damp. I have the comfort seat option in this car, and find that the extra adjustments (especially in the thigh support) worth the extra costs. Couple that with the standard timer on the ventilation system, and you can clear out a lot of the hot air before you get in (if you know when you're coming back!). While you may not need the seat heaters in a warmer climate much, those in this vehicle work extremely fast, and sooth sore muscles, too, should that be an issue.

FWIW, the stock seats on this vehicle in Germany are fabric and the panoramic sunroof is (or at least was) optional, allowing you to get a great car for many thousands less than the way optioned here. We do get a good deal because of the bundles compared to other markets, but a good portion of that is in their taxes.

I have ventilated seats in my GT (front seats only) and I like the feature quite a bit. If you live in a hot climate I think you'd use them a lot... the effect is subtle (you're not going to feel wind hitting your back or neck necessarily) but they do cool you down a lot faster than AC alone. Living in San Francisco, we don't have a ton of hot days here, but they're really nice when you're leaving the gym, on road trips to warmer climates, etc. I would not order another car without them, but then I could say that about a lot of expensive features... HUD, active steering, NAV, etc...

Folks - ventilate your own seats LOL!

All kidding aside, I've driven cars that have this option and it's a great feature. If I buy another new car, I'm definitely going for this...
