2014 X5 interior spyshot

I wasn't sure if this was shown here before. Looks like the new X5 gets an F30 type of I-drive screen instead of the integrated one from the F10.
While I prefer the design and glare protection of an integrated nav. this free standing type must be far superior from a maintenance/replacement point of view.

the new x5 will look good no question about it.
my main concern will be the electric steering which is almost guaranteed to have, like the 5 series.
hopefully they also drop some wight, but the interior looks very nice and modern

My guess is new because if a BMW wheel have transfered from an old body style to the new it's rare. With a new model comes normally a new set of wheels.

I don't like the way the new X5 looks... It resembles all the Fseries. That was one of the reasons of not going with the new 5 series. I think I will be done with BMW after I get tired of my current X5.

Meh. Here I come Porsche!

that being said, I like the interior. Looks like a stitched leather dash.

Props to the OP on the find. New pics are always cool

Nothing we already dont know.

Why the heck is that floating idrive screen so thick and plasticy? You would think Bmw could invest in a nice electronics designer, make it a floating unit milled out of almuminum or something along the mechanical engineering lines of apple ipads lol (maybe im asking too muchh).

Idk know if anyone else noticed the shape of the lower center stack reminds me of the E90 without idrive lower center stack.

And as usual BMW will just launch this baby officially (or unofficially someones gonna leak it close to launch ahem jalopnik) like it did with the E70. They just show it, no concept lol

Agree on that thick plastic screen, its horrible. Having driven a few of the new 3 series, the screen sticking up and not being retractable is one of the things I really dislike. Its just kind of "in the way" most of the time and according to my local car detailer, a pain to clean around properly.

Couldn't agree more. I had a 328 loaner with that screen and I'm not a fan. While the glare was less than I expected, it was still more than I have on my E70. If the F15 will have the same amount of glare as the 328, then it will be a step back in design for the X5.

I would like to know how many of these sticking unit will be broken over the course of a single year.

The current unit is protected and far away from passengers... that is the way it should be.

I am a bit clumsy at times, I bet I would just swoosh the thing out by accident.

I still believe the new interior looks better though

The steering wheel in that picture looks like it came straight out of an Acura MDX..or it might just be me..? I've had an Audi A6 (black with dark tan almost carmel interior) and it was pretty hard to get rid of, I want nothing to do with a Porsche, Mercedes are generally lacking in performance, we have a current body style Escalade now and I'm getting tired of plastic breaking when it only had 46k miles. I think I'm out of options but to just stick with the E70 however I'll probably go to a newer one instead of the one I have now. I hope the new X5 has a better 3rd row setup though!

I doubt that there going to put that clumbsybnav Nav screen in the removed x5
Would be a step backwards inmo!

Uhhh there is no "doubting" it will happen. I'm afraid it's too late in the game for BMW to drastically change any major design cues in the new X5 and this IS the screen that it will have, unfortunately.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY DO THIS, NOBODY I KNOW PREFERS THIS SCREEN TO THE ONE THAT IS CURRENTLY IN THE X?
ANY IDEAS?

seems like everybody is doing it...

the first one I saw was a few years back in the volvo's and cadillac cts... not really a reference in the business.

I assume people want to be able to have this thing going down to get back the cool old style look with instrument cluster only.

But considering this dual cluster has been a BMW 'trademark' for so long now, I am surprised they get rid of it.

This is part of the reason I decided to pull the trigger on an X5 right now even though I know the new model comes up in a few weeks.

I always liked the dual cluster

I picked up my wife's Porsche diesel about two weeks ago ( about 1200 mi now) and it's hard to know which one I like the most. I drove back from a trip yesterday (250 mi) in the Porsche and the dash read MPG at 34 and at one point after 150 miles it read 36, not bad. They both have their highs and lows I think. BMW cabin noise is crazy loud, the Porsche noise is close to the Lexus LS 460 we traded in. I have enough seat time now but I keep going back and forth as to the one I would rather be in.

What I don't understand is why they make it look retractable, but it is not.

i'm sorry but the front end looks way too pinched to me, i love a big ass and full lips on a woman and in a car and so far from what i have seen the new front end looks too skinny and frail, it does not look proportionate, and not sexy, this is a SUV not a ferrari...

i am a bit sad to see that the X3 still has that inboxed nav look, aside from the future X5 has the floating iPad effect which i really like
