To add to this thread, I actually had a 4th Drivetrain malfunction. It felt like I lost the turbo, drove like molasses was in the engine haha

Took it to the dealer and told the service manager or rather "director of fixed operations" that I want BMW to buy the car back. I honestly do not feel safe driving the car so much knowing they legitimately can not fix it. My SA called and said it threw the same code as last time indicating the computer control module is acting up.

I'm just sitting and waiting to hear back whether or not BMW is going to fight me on this. The dealership - who I've raved about has been nothing but exemplary towards me, and I made sure the service mgr knew that. And I love the car I want another.

Had two 3 series loaners, then a X5, now I'm in an X3. Peppy little 4WD SUV....

Even though I love this car, and wish could just upgrade to a Bentley, the sad truth is that this will be traded in as soon as the warranty runs out. And not to another BMW.
I'm thinking a 2006+ Arnage or Flying Spur. I actually had a downpayment on an Arnage before this, but fell through due to undisclosed issues.

Just go the car back. Turbo oil feed seals were leaking, 8 new injectors and plugs, crankcase vent lines. Put 300 miles on and it is running great. I think I'll keep it another year and see what catches my eye. I'm hoping these engines don't have the valve stem seal issues as mileage increases.

Had another Drivetrain Malfuction, after a shudder at a stop light. This time, the dealer replaced a faulty fuel injector to cylinder #1, as well as the sparkplug.

Keeping fingers crossed.

I strongly feel BMW should investigate as to why so many 7 series from 2010-2011 are having problems

I dropped off my car the dealership for hesitation, shuddering, long crank time and the occasional drivetrain/DSC issue.

The first time they simpy raised my idle RPM, but after talking to the tech a second time, and explaining some of the issues I read about here, they did another diagnostic/pressure check.

They are replacing the injectors, spark plugs, and a faulty engine harness, to name a few. Will report back on how things go.

Sidenote: they gave me a 2013 328i loaner. Fun car. Especially when you turn off the DSC...

My 2009 750Li with 44,000 miles had a drive train malfunction last week. Took it to the dealership last Friday, picked it up on Wednesday. They replaced all injectors and spark plugs. So far so good, will be taking a 4 hours road trip to NY tomorrow. Hope it holds up

Mine had same problem and replaced injectors and plugs. My service guy said this is a known issue with these engines.

Third Drivetrain Malfunction in 2 months! This is about time I trade this car. And not for another BMW.

Guys do have them check the oil pan for plastic debris...

Sudden loss of power / turbo lag is something that the SA said will/would happen if even smaller debris travel in the oil flow !

There's something very wrong with the pre-facelift engine. And I'm absolutely confident BMW knows about it, seeing as they went out of their way to avoid any investigation on why and what exactly happened in my engine.

Update: Car has been in shop since last Friday for 3rd Drivetrain malfunction. Today, my friendly SA called to say they are replacing all injectors and spark plugs. Expect car back tomorrow.

In the meantime, the loaner Cadillac CTS seems a pretty nice car.

I spoke to the service manager at my local dealership, and he said although the F10/F01s have these drivetrain malfunctions, they're heck of a lot more reliable than the previous generation turned out to be.

The new generation will have teething problems, I'd rather wait till the second or third model year if you want the new design.

Received the drivetrain malfunction message earlier today at about 10 minutes into a drive. The car began shaking and shuddering out of nowhere, worse so when stopped. I pulled over, turned off the car and let it sit for 15 minutes. The message didnít reappear on startup, but Iíve driven it very very slowly since. Not happy.

Just curious, it seems the drive train malfunction is happening mostly to the 750 model. Anyone have a 740Li that is experiencing this problem as well?

and I'm thinking 2009 model in particular. I start hating my car and the dealer hasn't did anything to fix the problem. Look like I'm gonna sell it.

Dropped mine off this morning, drove with the Master Tech, and not sure what they will do yet. The car shakes, while driving, but I have not received the malfunction yet. THey will also test drive the car cold tomorrow morning, hopefully it's fixed!

Just FYI I started this thread when my 2012 740Li was having issues, havent had an issue with my '13 750(*knock on wood*), aside from the LED headlights needed to be pulled upwards, as they were pointed too low (fixed now!).

so it has been about 2 weeks now my car has been in the shop. The tech is a friendly nice gentleman, but my car is not fully diagnosed yet. The shop foreman did replicate the stuttering issue, esp when cold, they ordered some parts, but no luck yet. Last but not least, my car's warranty ran out on 3/31, yet I had reported this issue on 3/19, waiting to see what's going on.

So finally heard back, they are now saying that the 2 valves (air i think) on the side of the engine may be leaking, and it is not under warranty based on the issue I reported. I specifically said my car stutters and has long cranks when cold, so now they are checking to see if they can cover it under Original Factory warranty.

How did you "report" the issue; by e-mailing your service advisor?
