217 was average In 2012, top trap speed was 243 mph. There are some good vid clips to look at, check the "Narrows" and imagine it in hyper drive. The winner is crossing the finish at near 250 mpg in a NASCAR level car. 90 miles in 30 minutes is damn quick! Many of the runs are to hit target time over the course.

Other contests include timed events of o-100-0 mph and 0-200-0.

Thanks for bringing this event to our attention!

OK, so now - with summer tires finally on, and 8000 km on the clock - I tried the real max speed of my (Speed-Buster tuned) 528xi. It was safe on a practically empty fragment of a new motorway just open to the public, so I just floored the gas pedal and waited for results...

My suspension was in Sport mode, of course, but the tranny was not - so I was really astonished when - after hitting 260 kmph stop mark on the speedometer - I noticed the RPM dropped to somewhere between 4 and 5k. Even at this speed, the engine felt strong enough for the SAT to shift to the 8th! Judging from that, I guess that should I have been in Sport/Manual mode, the car could have made even more than 260 kmph on the 7th gear.

Not bad!

PS. Regarding the high-speed stability: not sure how much of being perfectly stable at 260 kmph was due to virtually no cross-wind, and how much was a result of riding my staggered wheels/wider summer tires, but the difference in comparison to the mere 200 kmph I maxed on my winter tires is day and night
