Question 2011 to 2013 changes?

My wife's X5 lease comes to term in about a month. She likes the vehicle she has now (a 2011 X5 Diesel more or less loaded) but I'm tempted to extend the lease a few months for favor of getting the 2014 F15 model. I'm completely aware of the peril of a 1.0, but feel there's some obvious areas of refinement in the current model that I'd expect improvement in . Perhaps some of this has already happened though...

What are the primary differences between a MY2011 and the current E70?

Nothing really. MY11 brought the LCI, which was the last major update.

Just some minor tweaks in the options structure and such. For example, post 04/11 X5s were able to option up BMW Apps, etc. Post 10/10 X5s got Combox, which added A2DP support, among other tweaks. They brought back soft-closing doors in MY12. But that's about it.

Some new colors, like that hideous bronze color.

I have the 2011MY (June 2010 build, yes no A2DP) . . . has the yellow tinged halogen angel eyes, 2012MY onwards you get the white LED . . . certainly better looking but probably not worth getting into a F15 1.0.

Dashboard is refreshed - better? Matter of personal opinion. All lights on my instrument panel are orange . . . not sure about 2012, but F15 should have the multicolor instrument gage - IMO opinion easier to read.

HUD - mine is all orange . . . I believe the newer ones use multi-color . . . and I believe (not sure) the newer ones uses depth separation - i.e. all the info is not displayed at the same depth (more urgent ones appear closer).

If you don't already have AD, look into it and carefully understand what it can do before deciding. IMO AD with non RFT 19 inch gives you the best ride comfort . . . of course if you need the 3rd row, non RFT is not an option for you.

I could use a third row, but have always felt that the current one is essentially non-functional if boosters or infant seats are installed. In retrospect I would not have opted for them. I'm somewhat hopeful that the F15 will improve on this in some respect.

Regarding run flats... I feel some security in knowing that a blowout at speed doesn't automatically roll us. I also am not particularly sensitive to the extra harshness they convey.

Not sure what is meant by AD though... could you expand the acronym for me?

Thanks!
