If neither one of your mirrors fold in, I would think it was an electrical problem and not the motors that swing them in. Idk if there's a fuse for them but its worth checking. G/L.

wipers

Anyone notice wipers complete swipe then start up the windshield and inch or two then stop?
Asked my SA about it today, said it is something engineered in the wiper programming to prolong the blade life by starting the upstroke again and resting there. Seems to happen randomly but he thought it was like every 15th vehicle cycle.
Anybody heard of this or noticed?

Auto fold mirrors were not an option in 2004, you list a 2004 545 as your car, which means no auto fold, sorry bro

Your SA is lying through his teeth. The wipers not parking correctly is a common problem. I fixed mine by simply replacing the wiper relay and I think the price was around $15. Have your SA demonstrate that "feature" on any of the cars on the lot and when he can't, insist he fix it. Then tell the service manager that in the future, you want an SA with a clue.

After years of owning my car. I found out that by shorting a few pins and installing the "SPORT" button, it activated some sport features in my car which I didn't have as an original option.

It gave me a heavier\tighter steering
Responsive throttle response (no need for a Sprint Booster or BMS PowerBox).
In auto mode, gears change at a higher RPM.
SPORT light in cluster.

It's a completely different car!

Yes I did. I did it when I retrofitted the CIC Nav system found in the newer F10 series.

They're knock-offs but yeah, they're E90 M3 replicas. I do like the way they look on the E60... Those are my winter wheels/tires

I've found a little door on the drivers side near the back that you open up to expose a hole that you put liquid in, the more you put in, the further the car goes, putting the correct liquid in helps. I think I need to tell the wife about that little secret door, and which fluid to put.

p.s., putting in liquid also stops the little fuel pump light coming on on the dash.

I think that precious liquid is the magical "push water".

Threw me off at first when you said "driver's side", you have a RHD car (UK), in the US this "magical" door is on the passenger's side (same side really)

Sorry about that, yes UK model.

I have also discovered a very little known surprise with these cars, when a red light comes on on the dash, the numbers on your bank account go down fast, very fast.

I found this out a couple of weeks ago. If you have the gear selector (on LCI models) in sport mode and you hit the engine stop button, the selector automatically pops over to the right and goes into regular mode.

OK, most of us here are either Americans, or Canadians, and we drive on the right side of the road.

So when you say stuff like the left side or the right side, you gotta say it in a British (or Aussie, if appropriate) accent.

Use words like, 'blimy', or some such, so we know what is going on.

It is only polite.

Like, when I went to France, I had a friend write me some phrases that would help me along. After each phrase, he told me to say the following, so people would not be concerned avout my accent.

Quote:
veuillez excuser mon mauvais Frence, je suis un Américain stupide
After I said my little phrase, people in Paris gave me a big smile, or a little laugh, and were very helpful.

I should have tried that one. They weren't particularly helpful to me, lol

BMW Assist - complimentary time

I purchased my 2010 528xi April 2013. This week I was looking at some information on the BMW website and found out about BMW Assist. It said that BMW paid this service for the first 4 years (no mention of mileage.) I contacted them (e-mail) and they requested my VIN. After providing it, they said I was covered with the service until May 2014. The BMW dealer never mentioned it. BMW Assist requested a copy of my registration, name, address, and phone. They said they would complete the enrollment and forward a copy of the agreement to me. After the May 2014 time, it will cost $199 annually. They also stated my "unit" may need to be reprogrammed by the dealer.

If your BMW is within the 4 year time limit (from in-service date) you may still have some complementary time with BMW Assist. Below is their e-mail address to check.

Also does it when you push the park button from manual mode.
