Rain-sensing wipers Question

Hi guys, how effective do you find the rain-sensing wipers on the F30?

I find them a bit slow to react on most settings except the most sensitive, even then they are only just ok for moderate rain.

I also find that they work better first switched on with the sensitivity at lowest level, then increase gradually; it all becomes a bit of a pain to fiddle with so much, they are supposed to make life easier.

I've had this feature in my last 3-4 vehicles; overall they work on the F30 about as well as my Lexus, but best were my Mercedes which didn't even have a sensitivity adjustment.

I haven't received my F30 yet (it is off the coast of Nova Scotia now) but in my E60 535, it works well for me with the sensitivity at the middle click position.

I always have to trigger my "automatic wipers."

I have to agree they are not that effective.

I also find the same with the high beam when using the adaptive headlights.

Be safe.

Same here. I wish there was a way for it to remember the last setting so I don't have to turn the automatic wiper feature on every time I start the car.

If they are like the X3, I wish they would either have a very insensitive setting or an intermittent setting that is extremely slow, like one swipe every 15-20 seconds.

Yeah, I can't think of anything better than coming out some morning to my icy car, starting it up, and watching the wipers automatically start tearing themselves to pieces while encased in ice because I forgot to turn off the wipers the night before.

I haven't driven in rain enough yet to draw any conclusions. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I might get a chance to evaluate them.

Drove to work this morning in the rain. Here is what I noticed. When it is was raining very lightly, they were sort of frustrating. However, as soon as it began to rain very hard, they worked very good.

I find the rain-sensing wipers on the F30 to be more "controlled" than on my W204 Mercedes. But I do like the "always on or always off" auto selection on the Mercedes better.

I find the 328i implementation much better than in our past two cars, 2007 Lexus GS350 and 2010 Lexus ES350.

Love the way it can be adjusted with the thumb wheel in the steering wheel.

My 2005 Lexus RX also had this adjustment, don't your newer Lexus have it?

Agree, I find the same, unfortunately it's always raining lightly here in Seattle...this problem is ruining my life!

I don't recall seeing them. I do remember that it usually found the wipers in a speed that was either too fast or too slow.
