You'll have to "normalize" the metal again. Use rust remover on it, then wash it. Common problem when machining stainless. You have to be careful not to contaminate the stainless with tools you've used to machine carbon steel or it will do the same thing. Critical in the case of parts used in reactors.

Have we heard from Karl since his interview? Can we start coming up with outlandish speculation?

serious request- can someone take a picture of the inside of their trunk. I'm interested in the area directly behind the seats (someone without the fold down option) and how the plastic trim pieces attach around the break light cluster, and trunk latch (so really 3 pictures...)
Thanks!

Karl was probably interviewing for an elite CIA sleeper cell embedded in Canada and upon acceptance he was to completely disavow anyone and anything in his former life. Dibs on the GTO, I never really cared for E36 coupes.

It was ten degrees hotter in Tracy, but it was a lovely 74* inside my house I love making fun of my parents for that too.

PS, they make these nifty things called screen doors. They let air in and keep bugs out. You might mention that to Jared.

Whoa whoa whoa, I've got dibs on the Goat. I've called it long ago, each time we have a scare that Karl disappeared.

Exactly why I want the 328, less competition. Although I am first to call it now, when he gets his shoe, I have dibs on that when he disappears again.

fight to the death? I mean can you really afford to keep a GOAT running in CA.. smog laws, fuel prices, insurance... the logical thing here is to just concede to me.

No matter who gets it, you probably should let Matt have it first. He has the garage to do the restoration. Lucky.

I somewhat enjoyed my friend's E34 525i 5-speed which I tended to for 10 months or so. Was super floaty and slow at first, but once the chip, suspension, sway bars, and shifter got upgraded, it was a lot of fun. Definitely not fast, but it felt great to drive.

I'm alive! Busy day yesterday. The interview went well, I think! We shall see... They will be done with interviews by the end of this week, and their HR person won't be back in town until the week of the 13th, and even then there will probably be a lot of red tape to cut through (if I'm offered the position). Realistically, it could be a long time before I get any sort of definitive answer.

Not the CIA, but it is the US Federal Government. If I have to take on an alias, my code name will be Karl Hungus:

(Video is mildly NSFW, but he's even driving a black E36)

Nice try, but the Goat is a 66 so its smog exempt.

Mine!

Edit, dammit. He's back.

I mean, yay, glad you're ok Karl!

Ken, good read on Karl. He seems like the CIA type.

Jon, good luck getting his e36. I'll fight you for his rust-free car! You better ship it by air or go through canada because there will be a ruthless slapfest waiting for you to cross into the eastern time zone.

Jose, I can get you a rust free E36. We don't have snow or salt here. Almost all cars are rust free. Just tell me what to look for, I'm already shopping for Harry. Besides, you'll never find me when I drive through. Woooo hahahahahaha. And I work for the Navy dude, secure shipping could be arranged.

Yeah, if you just have regular Scwarz, the lip will probably be close enough. If anything, it'll probably be a bit darker than your considerably older paint, but I doubt it'll be very noticeable.

I don't see why it wouldn't match. The lip is a nice add on. (Which reminds me I need to rip my M one of the e36)
