lane departure and hud

just bought a 2013 328xi with hud and driver assistance packages- the LDW works and displays in the instrument panel. In the control display under setting/headup display/display information it shows speed limit information, drivers assistance, navigation, messages (?). everything is checked. left of the steering wheel the LDW switch is activated and the led shows green--but the LDW does not show up in the HUD. All the information I can find says it should. Any thoughts on how to fix this or experience is appreciated. I believe it displayed when I was driving the car home from the dealer but perhaps I was too excited.

I never noticed the LDW display a warning in the instument panel, unless you ae referring to markers indicating that road lines are visible. If your panel dispalys a warning, where does it appear and what is the symbol?
My HUD does not dispay any LDW information.
I also cannot find anything in the manual about the warning, other than the steering vibration.

I have a 2013 535i and seem to have the same issue. No lane departure info in HUD. However, the owners manual indicates it should be there:
Head-up Display
The concept
This system projects important information into
the driver's field of vision, e.g., the speed.
In this way, the driver can get information without
averting his or her eyes from the road.
Display visibility
The visibility of the displays in the Head-up Display
is influenced by:
***9655; Certain sitting positions.
***9655; Objects on the cover of the Head-up Display.
***9655; Sunglasses with certain polarization filters.
***9655; Wet roads.
***9655; Unfavorable light conditions.
If the image is distorted, check the basic settings.
Switching on/off
Press the button.
Display
Overview
***9655; Speed.
***9655; Navigation system.
***9655; Check Control messages.
***9655; Collision warning.
***9655; Speed limit detection.
***9655; Cruise control.
***9655; Lane departure warning.
Some of this information is only displayed briefly
as needed.

I think this is a case where the owners manual is simply wrong. There are several things (can't remember now) that are stated in the manual to be available on the HUD that despite having everything checked would not appear.

Exclamation HUD not showing LDW

When I picked up my 535i in January 2013, the LDW displayed in the HUD, but I had to have an overhead switch panel replaced that required the dealer to download a complete software update for the car to get new switch panel to operate. After that, the LDW stopped showing in HUD. I have taken car back, but the dealer and BMWNA can't fix it. Any help?

I know this thread is nearly a year old but I just got my 2014 535xi and am pissed that it doesn't show the LDW in HUD. It shows it in every piece of BMW literature, video, brochure there is but not in my car. And if you hold the hud button for 20 seconds it brings up like 20 screens that you can scroll through. And there you will see that the LDW is part of the HUD but you can not access it.....WTF BMW. And from what I understand there is no code for it either....

BMW is replacing my HUD in two weeks. I complained that the navigation feature display in the HUD conflicts with the HD screen at times...especially when exiting the autobahn. The HUD always tells me to turn right when the navigation map on the HD screen says turn left. I took video of this to show the dealership and apparently, my unit needs to be replaced. I also have the LDW feature and have never seen this in my HUD. I actually have turned this feature turned off in my car because I am a lazy blinker driver and got tired of the vibrations when merging lanes sometimes.

I never noticed there was no LDW info in the HUD. Really don't see a need for it --- if you are dozing off the HUD won't help you. The "rumble strip" feel of the steering wheel vibrating seems like the perfect feedback.

My 2014 had it for the first few months, and then they did a software update, and now its gone! Trying to see if I can code it back?

I had mine coded, so yes you can. One "Coder" told me it couldn't be done. He was wrong.
