Weird! Whistling/horn noise from accelerator

I have an 02 X5, I've noticed that when I push the accelerator in about 10-20% is makes a whistling or horn like noise??? once the accelerator is beyond the 10-20% the sound goes away. It also does it with cruise control on. Any ideas?

It sounds like your intake rubber boot is leaking. Those boots get brittle with time and start to crack and at low r's make a whistling sound. You may want to check your boot.

I had the same prob. It wasnt my intake boot. It was the d.i.s.a unit. It is a black box on top more towards the drivers side. Had mine replaced and no more whistling noise. It's very annoying, right?? I could hear mine on the highway even
