dj auto city lights?

bought some dj auto, headlights used. previous owner had city light socket installed and wire ready to be spliced.
i spliced it to the corner light on the passenger side. tried to turn it on, nothing happened. i oped up the back of the light, saw it had a ground wire. i plugged in the connector for the high beams, with the corner light wire still hooked up, when i turned on the corners the highbeams came on.
frustrated and i want to know what happened, if you know anything let me know. thanks

It's grounding through the high beams. Connect the ground from the city lights to an actual grounding point (the brown wire from the corner light) and it'll work without the high beams coming on.
