It got a ton of imperfections out of my paint, but not everything. Still looks WAY better, though. I'll probably get the #2 polish and use it when I go through this process again in the fall.

I'm sure the Meguiar's kit that Matt recommends is also very good. By the way, Matt, what kind of lubricant do you use for claying? I used Griot's Speed Shine as my lubricant, but I'm wondering if that is necessary. I've read elsewhere that you can clay with soapy water. Is this true? It would be nice if I didn't have to buy more Speed Shine for claying when I eventually run out. EDIT: I just found out that you can indeed use soapy water as a clay lubricant.
Thanks Zee i'll compare prices and see what ones better.
I've gotta go get a new orbital buffer as well.

If Ive learned anything while doing mine, its to just give up on being obsessive over the rattles. I had LITERALLY everything out of the rear of my car and still had a rattle that sounded like wine glasses touching. My rear deck rattles after I did it, the spare tire sounds like its trying to bust through my trunk and the bottome clips of my door panels will not snap in...I tried my absolute best to do it right, yet it turned out wrong. E36 interiors are just terrible.

That's one of the reasons I never wanted to daily one on my commute. They're impossible.

I've said it several times, I think the E36 interiors were assembled with chewing gum and spitwads and a prayer they'd stay together for a year or so.

One of the joys (?) of being about 50% deaf. I don't hear the squeaks/rattles/thumps. Of course, if I NEED to hear something going to pieces, it's problematic whether I'd hear it or not. My wife says I'm deaf to the exact frequencies of her voice........could be!

I must have lucked out somehow. I only have one intermittent squeak and it's from where the vert top storage lid rests on a rubber gasket. An occasional dose of Gummiflege seems to quiet it until it dries out again.

If you guys think E36 interiors are squeaky on the street, you should try rallycrossing one.

Actually, my interior is pretty decent. It rattled like crazy when I bought it, but that's because both of the door panels were flapping around freely at the bottom. I refurbished them and got them properly installed and they've been great ever since, and that was over three years ago. Also had to put some trunk carpeting between the rear seat backs and the plastic trunk opening to prevent squeaking, and put some cardboard between the moonroof motor and the access panel. Now I just get the occasional creaking from the hard plastics, but it isn't too bad. Occasionally my glove box will creak depending on the atmospheric conditions. Definitely not even in the same ballpark as how well built my '93 Maxima was built, but certainly acceptable.

Nice. Black cars with black wheels look silly in my book, so whatever color you paint your wheels will be a nice improvement.
